I read the book After by Morris Glitzman. I like the book because it is an adventurous continuation of the series. I also like it because it shows that determination can get you anywhere.
The book begins at the end of the book Then, when Felix is helped by Gabriek Geina’s husband. Felix lives in a hole, in Gabriek’s barn, to stay hidden from the war and the Nazis. One night when it was Felix’s birthday, Gabriek brought him a present. Then a car pulled up on the drive way. Gabriek told Felix to stay in the hole. While Felix got in the hole, he listened for a sound of arguing. Felix thought it was Nazi and that they went to get Gabriek because he is helping a Jew. When the talking finished, he noticed that they were gone so he got out of the hole. Felix thought that they taken Gabriek to the forest because that is where they do their killing. Felix cautiously followed them. When they got in the forest Felix saw them tying up Gabriek to the rail way track so when the train comes it will run him over. Felix ran down the hill saying ‘ I am the Jew and Gabriek was going to hand me over to you’ they pointed their guns to Felix’s head. Gabriek explained to them that he was taking care of Felix. To Felix surprise they were not Nazis they were rebels fighting back against the Nazi. They were called paristians. Then they told Gabriek that this should not happen again. After that Gabriek took Felix back to the barn. When they were near the barn they saw it alight. Gabriek run to it and told Felix to stay. But Felix went to the barn to collect Dom their horse. When he got there the barn was all most on fire. Felix quickly got Dom to safety but while he did so a wooden beam fell and blocked the exit. The beam was on fire and Felix jumped to try and get over the beam to Dom. Mean while Gabriek was getting his stuff from the house. But he got injured with the fire.
After that Felix took Gabriek to the paristians to get better. When he eventually found them he told them what happened. The paristians said they will do their best. Will went with but they said to join them he needed a gun. One of them gave Felix her coat and gave him a few tips on where to get a gun. Then Felix set off. At first he thought of breaking into a house and stealing a gun. But then he saw a Nazi youth on a bicycle with two bazookas. Felix crept up slowly on him and when the boy entered the house Felix got the bike with the bazookas and a pair of boots and rode off.
When he got there everyone was impressed. Felix got the job of assistance doctor. He stayed working until Gabriek got better. But he was not. So the paristains moved him to their main camp. And Felix stayed working he tried to escape a few times but he always got caught and his had to make up stories of what he was doing. One day Felix went out on a food mission he went into the city which was being bombed by England and Russia. Felix found food and his friend took a dead Nazis uniform and infiltrated their base. Felix’s friend finds out that the Nazi are going to attack their base and they run to warn them. She tells Felix to go to a swamp and wait for her. Felix goes and after a day he goes back to the camp he sees that everyone is dead and heads back. A couple of days later Felix’s friend return and she explained what happened and how the Russians are push the Nazis back. Then Felix decides to go with the Russians to see if he can find his mum. They take him to a camp and Felix helps out cueing the sick trying to find his mother and then he did he ran to her. She explained what happened to his father and soon enough she was gone. Felix made a funeral and he found Grabriek well and healthy. So they went off to find a life.

Film Journal Wednesday 29 th June

I watched the film The secret Life Of Pets by Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney. I like because it is funny and adventureous. The film is about  a funny story about a dog’s life when his owner leave for work.

It begins like an ordinary day the owners go to work; the pets have their own time for themselves. One dog called Max waits for his owner all day. When she arrives she brought a dog from the shelter. Max does mind the dog and he feels like he has been substituted. The dog’s name is Duke. He takes Max’s bed and starts to take over the house. The next morning Max knock’s over a vase and a lots of other things to make it look like Duke did it so his owner thinks he is a bad dog. On the same day they went for a walk and Max was taking the advantage of Duke. Duke did not like so he grabbed Max and ran away. They found themselves in an ally way with cats. The cats took their collars and left them. A short while later Animal Control came and because Max and Duke did not have a collar they took them.

On their way to cannel a rabbit called Snowbell, a pig named Tattoo and a lizard attacked the van to rescue their friend. They were part of a group dedicated to bring domestic pets and humans down. They were part of this group because there owners abandoned them. When they rescued their friend Max and Duke said that they burned their collar and that they were human killers. Snowbell told them to join so they headed down to the sewers. When they get to their hideout, Snowbell says that they need to be bitten by a viper to join the gang. Both Max and Duke Refuse and escape, but the whole gang is on to them. They escape but only to Brooklyn the other side of town. So they raid a sausage factory and escape Animal Control but not for long. Snowbell finds Duke and Max and his gang gets taken as well as Duke by animal control. They pair up to rescue their friends. They find themselves on Brooklyn Bridge driving a bus and crashing in to other cars. I watched a film called Dolphin Tale 2 by Harry Connick JR, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson and Morgan Freeman.
I like this film because it based on a true story of what happened to a Dolphin called Winter. I also like because it shows determination of the people taking care of Winter to keep her happy after her best friend died.
The story beings when they got a message about a stranded dolphin nicknamed Mandy after the little girl who found her. She was sun burned and had a lung problem which caused her to get stranded. She also had mucus coming out of her eyes. The marine hospital which is also an aquarium took her in to treat her. As Mandy became better Winter started to act weird and no one knew why. Then the next day Panama Winter`s best friend was at the bottom of the pool dead. She died of age and lung problems. That left Winter lonely and dangerous she hit a person while they were trying to put her prosthetic tale on.
Mean while Mandy was getting better and clay had the decision made to release her but everyone else wanted to pair up her with Winter. Then she was released and a day later they found a turtle trapped in fish net. They cut it off and made sure she was healthy before releasing her. At sawyer birthday party a call came about a female dolphin coming to the centre who was a baby so everyone got ready. When she arrived she was named Hope after she was the one chance. They had to save Winter. As soon as she was ready they attempted to pair them up. But it went wrong Hope got scared that Winter had no tail so they called it off. The next day they tried again, but this time with the prosthetic tale on and it worked and that was the end.

Mystery Story HWK4 sunday 15th May 2016

I would like to tell you what happened that night. It was about twenty years ago. I can only remember part of the story because it all happened too fast. My memory is not as good as it used to be in the old days.

I had just arrived in London a city famous for the underground, double-decker buses and Buckingham palace. I was an adventurous journalist. Famous worldwide for solving crime and bringing your Times to you every day. The train pulled up on platform eight on king`s Cross St.Pancras. It was the sort of train you would get if you were going to Berlin or Paris. A double-deck train with Virgin labels on the side and a stained glass roof . Inside it was a modern carriage with light on the floor and a red velvet carpet. The seats were made from leather with first class service from the staff.

All you could ever want for a five-hour trip from Rome. I was heading home from my frightful time in Rome. I had been sent there to interview the Pope but when I got there the worst was expecting me. I got kidnapped and found a criminal gang smuggling weapons. I knew what I had to do. I escaped from the kidnappers and got evidence for the police. And before I knew my time in Rome was done.

“This is King`s Cross St.Pancras. Change here for the northern, Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City, Circle, Metropolitan line, National and International trains.” Said the announcement as I got off the train and followed the way out sign. When I was out of the station I went looking for a taxi. I had been searching for ages then there it was the only one I had seen all day. When I got in I said Baker Street. As soon as I said “Baker Street” I realized that the man’s eyebrow went up fast than the Apollo eleven. Then I looked closely at his face it look identical to the man who I took the photo to show the police in Rome. Maybe he was a twin. I tried to seem as nothing happened but it was hard. Then out of the fog I saw Marylebone station. I knew we were close.

When I got off I waited for the man to leave. Eventually he did, so was he the same person or perhaps his brother? I knew that when I got hotel I had to investigate this case. Then I got in the hotel. There was a glamorous chandelier with golden rays of light being reflected off it. When I got up to my room I immediatly went into the case.  I saw the man`s picture on a shop called Dolls. The newspapers caught my attention. On it there were cases of people missing but the strange thing was they all went missing in the same road next to the shop called “Dolls”. And the even stranger thing is that they all went missing at the same time.  At precisely 6:30, rush hour. That gave me ideas were they very organized kidnapper, criminals seeking attention or were the people who had something in common.  The ideas kept on coming through the night.

In the morning I decide to go to this shop called “Dolls”. I got on the  139 going to Waterloo station. I head down to the south of London. As the bus crossed the river I notice that the houses changed from bad to worst. They seem gloomy in this part of town. The fog had just gone down as we approached Waterloo. I got off the bus looking for the road named “Summer Set Avenue”. My search went for hours which seemed like weeks but eventually I had found it and the shop. I had been looking for ages it was almost rush hour the time the beast strikes. I made my way up the street, growing my confidence with every step I take. Knowing that I would be a hero or I would join the other in their perishing days. In the shop window a little door opened with a doll coming out of it. It was me. I was speechless, how do they know me?

I entered the shop, a little bell rang as I opened the door. There was no one in the shop. I walked cautiously. A doll fell of the shelve. My heart was beating like a drum.  Then I heard a strange sound it sounded like a machine with cogs turning and whistles blowing. I felt a shiver up my spine like someone going to attack me. Then the hand struck 6:30. I felt the floor moving spinning upside down.

And there I was sitting in the window sill for eternity. Watching the world fly past me like a bird, through the eyes of the doll that I was speechless about . I still think until this day how young I was and my days on earth were being counted.

I read a book called THEN by Morris Gleitzman. The thing I like about the book is that Felix and Zelda have finally stopped running from the Nazi and they are living amongst them with a kind women.

The story begins in the end of Once when they are climbing the hill. When another train comes Felix and Zelda run to hide from the machine gun on top of the roof of the train. They ran into the woods to hide but the Nazi were their burning bodies and barring them. Felix and Zelda stay in the forest hiding. In the morning they go out of the woods and see a truck with turnips. They run to get some because they are starving. Then an old man comes out of the truck grabs hold of Felix and Zelda and put them in the passenger seat and he tell them that he is going to his farm. Felix ask him if there will be more turnips and the replies yes. Later Felix notices an advert on the window saying 1000 reward in money for any Jews caught hand them over to the Nazi and claim reward. As soon as he read it he and Zelda run and see an unconscious kid underneath the turnips. They do not stop to help the kid they just run.

After they stop running a woman see them and grabs them by the ear and Felix is saying to her that Zelda is not a Jew but Zelda is saying she is. When they arrive at her hose she dumps them in the barn. Later Nazi come into the barn with dogs the woman throw pepper at the hay where we were hiding. Then I realized it was not for us it was for the dogs so they could not sniff us out. After the Nazi soldier came to stab the hay with his gun. Luckily none of us were stabbed. Then she told her name was Gena she gave us a bath and bought us clothes with eggs she got from her chicken.

Next Felix met a boy who shot a Nazi on the head. The next day Gena went to buy my present and she and Zelda were captured by the Nazi. Felix and the boy went for a suicide mission to rescue Gena and Zelda Felix had bomb around his chest ready to lunch them. Then he heard a bang! It was the boy, who had exploded half the house, and then a Nazi youth came a said that they were dead Zelda and Gena. He also had something in his had Felix birthday present a sliver locket with him and Zelda on it. Felix grabbed the locket and ran away from the house.

What Kind of Person is Felix? HWK1 22th April 2016

I think the question is asking for Felix`s personality and how he act to different situations. I am going to answer this question by getting evidence from the book Once and putting it in to quotes to back up my idea.
I think Felix is very good at using his imagination. The quote “I am confused, then I start to tell a story about Africa.” I think this shows us that Felix is good at using his imagination because it is telling us that under pressure Felix can think up of a funny and adventurous story. He can tell lies in a format of a story when he told stories to Zelda about their parents. Felix lies to not tell her the truth. That is why I think Felix has a good imagination.
Felix has good communication skill because he can tell stories and speak to people in calm manner. When in the cellar the children asked “can you read a story for us?” Felix was not feeling well. He reacted by getting a little angry and saying no. I think Felix has good communication skill because he is confident when speaking. He said that his dad told him to use a new word that he hears lot times to be able to learn that word and use it correctly. That is why I think Felix has good communication skills.
Felix had a good upbringing I know this by this quote “I lay the little girl down on it as gently as I can.” This quotation refers to Zelda as “the little girl “At this part of the book Felix just found Zelda when her house was on fire and she was unconscious because she had a big bruise on her head. I think this shows us that Felix had a good upbringing skill because he was taught to take care of people. That is why I think Felix had a good upbringing.
I think Felix is kind from this quote “the poor kid cannot go on like this. She needs to know the truth. “From this quote I can infer that it refers to Zelda as “the poor kid “and the speaker is Felix. At this part of the book Felix is going to tell Zelda the truth about her parents that died in the fire, so she stops looking for them desperately. I think this shows us that Felix is kind because he is being honest even though it is a truth that Zelda does not want to hear. That is why I think that Felix is kind.
In this essay I showed that Felix is kind, has good communication skill and imagination and he had a good upbringing. I think Felix is a good person for these reason.

Reading Journal 4 4th of april 2016

I read the book called CAN YOU SURVIVE AN EARTHQUAKE by Rachael Hanel. It is book that you choose  your own path and see where you  end up you make choices and decision. This book has 3 story paths, 42 choices and 21 endings. I like this book because you make your own decisions for your survival and if it turns out wrong ending you have to start again. Another reason for why i like this book is in an event of a natural disaster you would know what to do.

I choose my path in a city called San Francisco the other option were an island (Japan)and Alaska. I was given two options I was coming from work and my friend invited me to go out  I had the choice to go home and get dressed or go straight away. I choose to go straight away. When I arrived I helped out in the kitchen when the ground started to shake I had the choice to stay inside or run outside. I chose to run out side it was a good idea the house was to unstable and could collapse at any moment. Then I went to look for a rescue Shelta but there was a forest fire and it was to dark so we camped out. That was the end of the story of the city.

I like these types of book because you choose how the story ends. My conclusion is that I survived an earthquake and no was hurt, injured and died. that was my review on CAN YOU SURVIVE AN EARTHQUAKE

The journey for Felix and Zelda has both physical and emotional effects. The physical is that they have to walk all day and it is harder for Felix because he has to tell stories to Zelda and give her a piggy back ride. They tried to sleep but the Nazi did not let them sleep so they got more and more tired like they did not want to carry on but they wanted to find their parents. Another reason is that the Nazi don’t give food or water to them so they suffer from hunger and tiredness.  The emotional effects are that they miss their parents and they are desperate to find them. Also have to watch people being shot and hurt by the Nazi.
