Auschwitz, also known as Auschwitz-Birkenau, opened in 1940 and was the largest of the Nazi concentration and death camps. It was located in southern Poland. Life for the Jews was very tough. When they arrived there, the Jews were told that they were going to have a shower but instead they were poisoned by gas. They were not allowed to bring anything expect their clothes that they were wearing. They were transported by train. Many were ill and were about to die. Scientists were hired to do experiments on the Jewish people. One physics wanted study the eye colour he injected a serum which was very painful. When they got there they were divided into groups, the not capable to work and the people who could work. The ones who could not were poisoned in the showers.

The book I read was THE ELEMENTS by Dan Green. It is a non-fiction book about science. I like the book because I enjoy science and learning about the elements of the universe and the elements that make us. Did you know that 3/4 of elements are metal and 1/4 is gases and non-metals? The elements stat with the Hydrogen, which have an atomic number of 1. The atomic number means how many protons there are in the nucleus of the element. Each element has a symbol, for example the Hydrogen has an H as its symbol. The elements are put in a table, called periodic table, from the element with 1 proton to the element 118 that has been incorporated in the table this year. The Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe with 74% of it made of Hydrogen. 71% of the earth surface is water which contains hydrogen and oxygen. Water scientific name is h2o. The next element, which has atomic number 2, is called Helium, and 24% of the galaxy is made of it. Its symbol is He. Next is Lithium the lightest of the all the metal. Lithium combined with other metal makes aircraft and rocket parts. Its atomic number is 3 and its symbol Li. The most famous of the element is Gold. Astronauts wear golden visor to protect them from harmful sun ray in the space. Its atomic number is 79 and its symbol is Au. One of the most famous scientists had an element named after him. Can you guess who is? Yes, it is Albert Einstein. This element has an atomic number of 99 and its symbol is Es. The Americans had an element named after them called Americium. It is used in smoke detector, and it is the only radioactive thing you likely to have in your house. In our body we have a lot of different elements that make up our functioning bodies. Those elements that I listed above are some of the most interesting elements in my opinion. There are many more elements and some scientists are trying to find them, and name the new elements 113,115,117 and 118 that were incorporated to table this year.

The book I read was Running For Gold by Owen Slot
I like this book because it is about a 18-year-old boy named Danny Powell and he is doing A-levels and at the same time he wants to complete his dream of beating Usain Blot in the Olympics but his dad wants him to quit running to go to university like his older brother Rikey. I like the book because it show us the determination Danny has th perceiver through his problems and become a sprinter.
The story begins in 2012 when Danny finds out that the Olympics is in Stratford (London) in the Olympic Park outside his house. Every day after school he works hard with his coach, who is a former athlete, Spike who likes to use the term get killed on the track which means work to your limit. One day, which Danny calls “the worst day ever”, on that day a thief enters the school and steals a handbag. Danny finds himself chasing the thief and he retrieves the hand bag. In assembly the headmaster congratulated Danny for retrieving the handbag. Danny was called to the stage and he talked about his dream of being the champion of the world and beating Usain Bolt. After assembly everyone laughed at Danny and his dream even his best friend Anthony said that Usain Bolt could eat a cheese sandwich before Danny could cross the finishing line. In school people would say ‘dream on Danny!’ this made Danny feel more determine to train harder. He lied to his parent saying he would leave at 6.30 everyday to revise at Anthony’s house instead he would run with Spike preparing for Olympic dreams. On the 20th of May one of the most important races of Danny’s life he would run 100m and he had to complete it in under then 10.20s if he did he would be able to complete in the trail for Team GB and in the trail if he came first or second he earned a place in Team GB. In Sheffield the race started Bang! They were of but then Bang! The racers stop someone started too early and he had to be disqualified. It was not Danny. The rest of the racer line up again at the start line. Bang! This time there was no second gun fired. Danny finds himself trying to chase first place in the end he broke his PB and it was now 10.17s. He qualified for the trails in the Olympic Park. On the 8th of June, Danny came third in the first round of trail, first in his second and he broke the GB fastest time with 10.3s in his third race. He did sub-10s with a 9.99s. In the finals he throne his hamstring and he was close to his dream now he will just wait for 2016 Olympics in Rio.

The book I read was SPY CAT BLACK OUT by Andrew Cope.
The book is about an ordinary cat named Shakespeare who becomes a trainee spy because Professor Cortex wants to make animals spies. He successfully manages to make Lara, the family’s pet dog, a spy dog and Lara’s pups, Spud and Star, also qualified as spy dogs, but he wants a spy cat. The story begins on a cruise ship where there was an unsuspected diamond thief: an 80-year-old lady. She enters cabins to only rob diamonds. She left money filled wallets and emeralds. She only wanted diamonds. She did not work alone across Europe. There were more robberies on trains, banks and only old people took part in it. They all worked for the same man: the Past Master who is a survivor from World War 2. He is an evil genius mind whose intentions are to make no harm, but he wants to bring the world to “the good old days” in the 1950 BC (before computers). He invented a machine called the time machine set to destroy the satellite in Europe so there would be no connections to use phones and computer. Their secret hide out was the Shard’s top floor nearer to the sky. Shakespeare is set a very important mission with the Professor. They would dress up as very rich people and Shakespeare would wear the biggest diamond in the world on his collar. A hand-picked agent was chosen by the past master to steal that diamond. Shakespeare gets cat-knapped and is on the top floor of the Shard by his own. Nobody comes to rescue him. The past master tries to escape, but Shakespeare jumps into his garden mower engine powered wheelchair and they are flying though London. The engine stalled and our hero had to do his job in only 90 seconds before they crash in to London Bridge. The past master was strapped into the chair and if Shakespeare did not react fast enough he would sink after saving the world from a crises. Finally after that mission, Shakespeare becomes an official spy cat.
